About

Michael-ImlayWelcome to Dateline>City of Angels!

I’m Michael Imlay, a professional writer whose background runs the gamut from public relations and marketing communications to consumer and trade journalism. Over the years, my work has appeared in a variety of local and national venues.

Born in Pasadena and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies/Philosophy from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California. After two additional years of graduate work, I moved to the City of Angels proper, building a career in publishing, editorial and business communications. Recently, I made my “return” to historic Pasadena, where I now pursue freelance writing, blogging and photography.

Dateline>City of Angels represents my “online journal” written from and mostly about my native SoCal region. It especially reflects my offbeat (and often macabre) fascination with the area’s quirky culture and heritage. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy its forays into the history, mystery and reality of life from the desert to the sea!
