Proposed Building Breeds Controversy

Our San Diego neighbors to the south have quite an architectural brouhaha on their hands. Seems that a daring new design for a 40-story residential tower in their downtown district is a little too “organic” for critics. You’ll have to follow the link for the story and photo, but let’s just say the edifice in question gives a whole new meaning to the cliche “thrusting skyward.”

And you thought L.A. was wacky…

Hi Mike!

Some people are mighty sensitive. If I hadn’t been prompted, that structure wouldn’t have looked particularly phallic to me. And I have phallic-on-the-brain. This reminded me of more wackiness . . . check out these people who think church steeples = lingams.

Doug — Good to hear from you. The San Diego high-rise looked more like a reject design for a Star Trek warp core to me, but go figure. As for your link, I have to admit that’s one of the most bizarre websites I’ve seen lately. How do you find this stuff?

Naaah. Maybe a robot peener, because of those vertical bars, but nothing belonging to any human or mammal.

Militant: I think I just lost this site’s G-Rating. Anyway, maybe the verticals represent a 40-story Gates of Hell.
